"For He says: 'In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.' Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." --2 Corinthians 6:2
"Do not be unequally yoked (married) together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" --2 Corinthians 6:14
"For we walk by faith, not by sight. ... Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him." --2 Corinthians 5: 7, 9
"... and He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. ... Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." --2 Corinthians 5:15, 17
"And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is vain and your faith is also vain." --1 Corinthians 15:14
"And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!" --1 Corinthians 15:17
Paul is saying here, if this really didn't happen (Christ being raised from the dead for our sins) then our faith and hope is worthless. He's saying, why would we all be believing and preaching this if it didn't actually happen?
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive." --1 Corinthians 15:22
Through Adam, the first sinner, we all pay the price of sin - death. But through Christ's resurrection, we gain eternal life in Him.
"And why do we stand in jeapordy every hour?" --1 Corinthians 15:30
Paul is saying, why would we put our lives on the line if this hadn't actually happened? He knew for a fact that Christ had risen again, or he wouldn't be risking his life for the Truth. As he said above, if it hadn't actually happened, his faith and preaching were in vain. Would he really go through so much, and risk his life, if it were all a lie, if he were not convinced beyond doubt that he was preaching the Truth?
"Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." --1 Corinthians 10:12-13
Ah, ha. Just noticed on Russ' links page, he wrote about this site: "courtney myers >> hosting a collaborative weblog in which only she seems to elaborate."
Word. Where are you guys, anyways?? ;_; Ah well, at least a bunch of names on the sidebar look cool... :P
(Paul is speaking about Christians he hasn't seen) "... that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Now I say this lest anyone should decieve you with persuasive words. ...
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power." --Colossians 2:2-4, 8-10
"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate." --Proverbs 8:13
I figure as long as I'm really busy and all, I might as well use this blog for some good purpose, so henceforth, I'm going to post a verse every day, something I found interesting, or something funny, or whatever. (and yes... there are funny verses in the Bible.) therefore, wayward travelers to this site actually have some content to look at. This idea should keep me going until I graduate. :D All verses will be either NKJV or NAS... most likely NKJV. Enjoy.
