Thom told me that the guy he was arguing with said that refraining from premarital sex causes rape and violence and the like... actually, I believe it's our over-sexed culture and the abundance of pornography in society that contributes to that... when individuals are viewed as nothing more than sex toys, they're going to be treated in like fashion.
Sex the way God designed it is meant to be a complete bonding experience between a husband and wife... completely joining emotionally, spiritually, and physically. It's a special gift. And I'm with Thom - I'd love to hear Thad's speech on this topic...
I had an argument with this guy today who thought premarital sex was actually a positive thing. He talked about how it makes for better relationships and less sexual repression. In reality it has tons of negative effects, like ruined relationships, emotionally devastated individuals, single teen moms on welfare, spreading of AIDS, and on and on and on. Not to mention that it is a sin! It's pretty obvious that if the all seeing, all knowing, God that created sex says that it is sin out side of marriage, he's probably got darn good reason!
I don't have time to really get into this, but maybe Thad could post his oratory on pre-marital sex for everybody to read. If anyone else has anything to say they should post it.
I checked out all the music sites to the left there, and they should all work now. As should the information sites to the upper left.
I see that Laurel and Thom are both finally listed as actual members of this site, but neither has posted anything yet! Well! Guess I'll have to start it all off. hmmm.. I was planning to write a bit about the roles/importance of women in the Bible, but I think that can wait a day or two. Instead I'll keep it short and sweet. Last night I read a bit out of Luke 11, in particular something Thom showed me earlier this month. (I'll admit it... it was late and I was tired and I kept dozing off... but I got the meaning of it... really! :>) The part he liked in particular was verses 33-36, regarding the kind of "garbage in, garbage out" thing:
"No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light." -Luke 11:33-36, NKJV
So basically watch what you're putting into your head, because it will influence you, far more than you think.
Ah! The first post to a new bloggy. The intention of this site is to serve as a resource/encouragement for Christians, and for those who want to get involved, a chance to share verses, things that are inspiring you, philosophies, thoughts, etc. Evenually there will be far more links here as this site grows. (By the way, I have yet to check on the actual web addresses for a lot of those bands to the left, so I wouldn't suggest checking them out yet.) I'm quite excited about the prospects for this project, as was Thom - even if it ends up being centralized here amongst our group of friends. So anyway... I will be working on this quite a bit, adding graphics and things and fine-tuning it... good things are coming! :D
